Chart your own Path to Success

Can you believe that 2023 is over? We've experienced both high highs and low lows in our business this year, but no matter what, we've kept moving forward. Like literally it was one of the best but also the hardest years we've had so far. As we close out the year, it's important to reflect on our successes and areas for growth to prepare for an even better 2024.

One of the most empowering things about being a small business owner or entrepreneur is the ability to chart our own path to success. Success doesn't always look the same for everyone, and that's okay. Your definition of success may be different from your competitors, and that's actually a good thing.

One person may want to have a million-dollar business with a full 25-person team and another might be just as happy being a soloprenuer. What one person needs/wants is completely different than what another person wants/needs.

But, how do we know if we're on the right path towards our version of success? Reflection and evaluation are the keys. Here are 3 questions to ask yourself as you look over last year:

  1. What worked and what didn't?

  2. What were your biggest wins and what obstacles did you overcome?

  3. What areas of your business do you want to improve upon?

Once you've reflected on 2023, it's time to start planning for 2024 with actionable goals. Don't be afraid to dream big - you have the power to make those goals a reality. Just remember to be specific and realistic. Break down your goals into smaller, achievable steps that you can work towards throughout the year.

Reminder: it's never too late to evaluate and reflect, and set goals. You can have goals for the year, but you can also evaluate after each month and shift your goals as needed. You can also use these 3 questions to evaluate any area of your life!

And, most importantly, make sure your goals are aligned with your definition of success. It's easy to get caught up in what others define as "successful", but remember, this is your journey.

Think of your favorite beverage (are you team pumpkin spice or peppermint latte?) - it's a perfect blend of different flavors that come together to create something delicious. Your business journey is the same - it's unique to you, with different experiences, skills, and goals that come together to create your own recipe for success.

So, my friend, cheers to 2023 and all the lessons we've learned. And, let's get ready to crush our goals in 2024, on our own terms!
